  • Bala is distributed throughout the hotter parts of India and a common weed that grows in waste places. A wild undershrub that is herbaeceous, aerial, erect, cylindrical, branched and solid green . Leaf is alternate, cordate, serrate, acute and pubescent with reticulate venation. Flowers are complete , bisexual and yellow coloured with 5 petals. Fruit is schizocarp which is 6-8 mm in diameter.

    Decoction of Bala mula (Root) with Saindhava lavana (Rock salt) is very useful in Bahu Shosha (Atrophy of arms)

  2. 02

    Bala taila (Oil) is used for bath, enema and for diet in case of Vatarakta.

  3. 03

    In Madatyayaja trIshna (thirst caused by alcoholism) water processed with Bala should be given to drink.

  4. 04

    One, who takes milk processed with two types of Bala (Bala and Atibala) in the morning, will be relieved from Asadhya Shlipada (Chronic and severe filariasis).
