Students of the Pharmacy and BAMS programmes at Ishan Institute of Pharmacy and Ishan Ayurvedic Medical College and Research Centre visited the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, on 25 August 2026 as part of an educational tour. The visit was organised to give students practical exposure to hospital services and help them understand how their academic learning connects with actual healthcare practices.

During the visit, students were introduced to different aspects of hospital functioning, with a focus on hospital pharmacy, patient care, medicine storage and inventory management. They visited the OPD and IPD pharmacy areas, where they learned about prescription handling, medicine dispensing, storage practices, documentation and the distribution of medicines to admitted patients. The interaction with pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals also helped students understand medication safety, rational use of medicines, patient counselling and the importance of coordination among different healthcare professionals.
The students were also taken through various diagnostic and clinical facilities, including X-ray, CT scan, ultrasound and laboratory services. They got an opportunity to see how different departments contribute to patient care and how healthcare professionals work together in a hospital setting. The visit also included exposure to practical aspects of emergency care and modern healthcare facilities.
The experience helped students move beyond textbook learning and develop a clearer understanding of hospital-based healthcare services. It gave them a better idea of the professional responsibilities involved in patient care and the role of pharmacy and healthcare professionals in ensuring safe and effective treatment. The visit was a meaningful learning experience that added a practical dimension to their academic education.
