Academic Tour to Haridwar & Rishikesh: Herbal Gardens, Ayurvedic Colleges & Pharmaceutical Units
Ishan Ayurvedic Medical College & Research Centre organized an out-campus educational visit for BAMS students from 18th to 21st March 2024. The visit was conducted by the Department of Ras Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana and Department of Dravya Guna Vigyan. The aim of the visit was to provide practical exposure to pharmaceutical processing, quality control and medicinal plant identification, while helping students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world practices.
Exploration of Medicinal Plants and Biodiversity
- Students visited herbal gardens at Rishikul, Patanjali and Shivalik Biodiversity Park.
- They explored a wide variety of medicinal plants and rare species found in Uttarakhand.
- They learned about plant identification, morphology and therapeutic uses.
- The visit enhanced their understanding of conservation and natural habitats.
Exposure to Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Practices
- Students visited State Government Ayurvedic Pharmacy and Patanjali Food & Herbal Park.
- They observed preparation of Ayurvedic formulations like bhasma, taila and avaleha.
- They learned about modern and traditional equipment used in manufacturing.
- They gained knowledge about Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and industrial operations.
Understanding Quality Control and Industrial Processes
The educational visit to Haridwar and Rishikesh was highly informative and enriching for the students. It provided valuable practical exposure to medicinal plants, pharmaceutical processes and quality control systems.
